Give Your Business Development Plan A Summer Tune Up

The summer is here and you may be thinking that now is no time to focus on your business development goals. But, you would be wrong. Half a year has passed. Half a year remains. If your business development goals are relaxing in a desk drawer, it’s time to get crackin’. There is still so much that can be done to make your goals a reality and the summer is absolutely the best time to do that.

Give your plan a summer tune up

Start with revisiting your plan.

  • Has 2013 been your worst yet for taking time for business development? 
  • Are only 15 to 20 percent (or less) of your clients your ideal clients?
  • Are the rest difficult, slow to no pay, complaining about your fees, high maintenance or even worse?

If you said yes to one ore more of the above, then it’s time to take your plan out for a spin and see what you can do–today to start hitting the targets you set for yourself in January.

It’s NOT too late!

You can have the practice you imagined but you must start right now to build momentum. Your results will carry you through the rest of the year and beyond.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

It can be tough to achieve a goal by yourself. You just might need to enroll your colleagues, friends and yes, a business development coach (wink, wink) in your success. Accountability is an essential element in hitting your targets so reach out and ask for that as well as any other support you need. For example, now would be a great time to warm up your referral engine by scheduling strategic conversations with your past and present sources.
